Just like we take a bath every day to clean ourselves, our energy and the spaces that we spend time in need to get clean too. It is recommended to keep this items together but Palo Santo and White Sage are meant to be burned separately.
- Palo santo is a sacred South American holy wood known to promote joy, reduce stress, and enhance clarity. Burn Palo Santo to cleanse your space and bring a spiritual calm to your surroundings.
- White sage is proven to neutralize energy and kills airborne bacteria. In addition to its spiritual purification properties it is also believed by many to assist in attracting prosperity and wisdom. One of our favorites to burn before meditation, after an argument, when moving to a new home, before having guests over or you can do it weekly or even daily to maintain a well balanced atmosphere where you are.
- Selenite crystal is a very important crystal to work with. It's healing properties are beneficial to everyone, helping to stabilize and balance the emotional body. Acts as an "energy detox" that cleanses and purifies everything around it. Wands are perfect to meditate or keep at your desk's drawer to calm down during stressful times. You can also keep it close to your front door, so the crystal can transform anything unpleasant that tries to enter your space.
- The Abalone Shell can be used as a bowl to catch hot cinders and hold what remains of the smudging stick after it’s burnt. Abalone is closely connected to the water element and the vibrations of love, beauty, gentleness, caring, compassion and peace.
Make sure to open all your windows so any heavy or unwanted vibration leaves the room and the space gets throughly cleaned. If you are just starting out with smudging don't be too worried about which instructions are 'correct' or 'work best'. Do what works best for you and 'feels right’ for you. Your intention is a key component of the ritual so be clear on what you want to achieve and keep that in mind as you perform the ritual.
When burning white sage, light up the end of your smudge stick or Palo Santo stick for about 15 to 30 seconds. Rotate the stick so that it burns evenly. Always blow out your flame before you begin the cleansing. It is natural for the stick to stop burning within a minute or two; re light as needed or if you are performing the cleansing in multiple spaces. But in most cases when the stick stops burning, the cleansing has been finished.
